La revolución en los volcanes: la geografía, la guerra y la subsistencia en la parte oriental del Eje Volcánico Transversal, Tlaxcala entre 1910 y 1918

Abstract

The phenomenon of war is tightly linked to the geographical space in which it takes place, as it is where conflict, strategy and operations converge. In this sense, this article reconstructs, based on the testimony of Colonel Porfirio del Castillo and documents from the Historical Archive of the State of Tlaxcala, how the geography and ecosystem of the volcanic system that crosses the State of Tlaxcala and its surroundings, allowed the Tlaxcalan revolutionaries to take shelter in refuge spaces, and from which they could regroup when necessary, plan and rethink their military operations. In the same vein, it demonstrates how the volcanoes and mountains were elements that the various Tlaxcalan revolutionaries constantly used in their favor, frequently allowing them to ensure the survival of their causes in the face of the onslaught of adversaries.
