Capacitación y trabajo mediante la Escuela Nacional de Artes y Oficios para Hombres durante los primeros años de la Revolución, 1911-1915

Abstract

This article studies how job training at the Escuela Nacional de Artes y Oficios (enaoh) was affected during the first years of the revolution in Mexico City, ranging from 1911 to 1915. It seeks to answer if this training allowed its graduates to find work in the spaces appropriate to their profession. The article maintains that when violence, disorder and a power vacuum prevailed in the city, training was interrupted, thereby causing deficiencies in job teaching. This made it difficult for graduates to find jobs consistent with their profession, but it also led them to look for different strategies to survive and different places to work. Through bibliographical, periodical and archival documentation sources, the job training processes are described, the work trajectories of those who graduated are investigated, and an account is made of where they worked and under what conditions they did so.

Key words: Job training, job trajectories, work, unemployment, revolution.
